Carolyn I. Atkinson

September 15, 1944 — August 18, 2024

Carolyn I. Atkinson, 79, of Little Hocking, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2024.

She was born September 15, 1944, in Belpre, Ohio, the daughter of the late Mack G. & Faye E. Griffith Hoselton.

Carolyn was a graduate of Belpre High School, Camden Clark School of Radiology, and furthered her education with a degree from Salem University. She dedicated her professional life to the field of radiology, ultimately retiring as the Director of Radiological Services at St. Joseph's Hospital.

In her personal life, Carolyn had a passion for travel, with Monument Valley and Hawaii being among her favorite destinations.  She was an avid fan of John Wayne and found joy in simple pleasures like riding a green tractor and spending time outdoors.  The music of Neil Diamond resonated deeply with her, providing a soundtrack to her life.  One of her favorite activities was having lunch at Napoli's with her great-nephew, Tim, a tradition that brought her much happiness.  Carolyn's life is marked by her love for her family, her dedication to her work, and her zest for life.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Carolyn is survived by her cherished nieces, Susan Abdella of Belpre, Sheryl Carpenter and husband, Doug of Mineral Wells, WV and Sandy Carpenter and her husband, Mike of Belpre; a brother, James C. Hoselton and wife, Linda of Belpre; a nephew, Jonathan Hoselton of Belpre; and several great-nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill M. Atkinson, M.D. and a brother, Mack Gale " Mickey" Hoselton.

The family wishes to express their gratitude and thanks to Amedisys Hospice and especially, Keeley, and her personal caregiver, Reta McVey.
