Carl Lewis Sams, 81, Belleville, WV passed away at his home on June 23, 2017 after an extended illness.He was born February 18, 1936 in Belleville, WV to the late Elmer and Mary Emma Schaffer Sams.He was employed at O’Ames Plant 2, was in the United States Army and was a member of Lynn Street church of Christ.He loved hunting especially turkey hunting, and telling stories.He also loved his farm and was a lifelong gardener. He is survived by his wife Mary ellen Sims Sams, a son, David (Margie) Sams of Dillwyn, VA, five daughters, Dianna (Paul) Andres of Panama City, FL, Carol (Roger) Props of Parkersburg, WV, Patricia (Johnny) Sams of Walker, WV, Christina (Dave) Blasingame of Wadesville, WV and Carla (Mike) Miller of Greenup, KY, nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, four sisters, Leona Weekley of Parkersburg, Mary Kay Lucas of Orlando, FL, Doris Hale of Ravenna, OH and Hazel Huffman of Lubeck, WV. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two infant brothers, two brothers, Claude and John Sams, three sisters, Betty Burton, Kathryn Fleak, Violet Lonsbury and one great-grandson, Devon Sams. Friends and Family are invited to attend the funeral service on Tuesday, June 27, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th St., Parkersburg with burial following at Wadesville Cemetery.Visitation will be on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Monday June 26, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 pm.
