Bonnie Wilkinson Knapp Lyons, 86, of Parkersburg, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at her home.
She was born February 18, 1937, in LeRoy, Jackson County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Rev. Charles Millard and Ruby I. Cheuvront Wilkinson. She graduated from Wirt County High School and from Mountain State College.
Bonnie loved her family deeply, enjoyed caring for them, and making a home for them. She was a Methodist by faith, a member of WCTU and a very active member with the Red Hill United Methodist Church where she played the piano for over 40 years and was in the choir, served as a Sunday School teacher, was a member of the Red Hill Methodist Woman’s Organization, and cared for the members with personal outreach.
Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Teresa Seckman (Phil), Lisa Stover (Gary), and Naomi Davis, all of Parkersburg; two step-children, Richard Lyons (Phyllis) of Ripley, WV and Cathy Murray (Rick) of Ravenswood, WV; four grandchildren, Nathan Stover (Selena), Sara Work (Jacob), Eric Seckman (Amanda), and Kristie Seckman; two great-grandchildren, Sophie Seckman and Colt Work; and one sister, Sandra K. Osgood (Theodore) of Rockport, WV.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lewis Dale Knapp in 1982 and second husband, Richard R “Tom” Lyons in 2017.
Bonnie’s family would like to give special thanks to Kimberly Didlake, Housecalls Home Health, and Housecalls Hospice for their exceptional care.
Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2023, at Vaughan Kimes Funeral Home, with Pastor Mary Zimmer officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Her family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
