On the morning of August 20, 2019 Betty Jo Kirby, 88, received her angel wings and joined her beloved husband, Leo Harold Kirby in heaven. Betty was born in Galia City, OH on February 2, 1931 to the late Sidney Ellis and Alma Bellar. Betty was a career mother whose focus in life was taking care of her husband and family. She was an avid seamstress and quilt designer; as well as gardening and growing many different flowers. She had a passion for cooking and sharing her meals with her family and friends. Many hours were spent reading and holding her cat Rose. Betty’s memory will forever be treasured by her loving children; Pam (Lloyd) Hughes of Belpre, Linda (Bob) Wofe and Alma (Al) Dotson both of Vienna; as well as her 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her infant son Richard Harold Kirby; and two brothers Ray and Dale Ellis of Rutland, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made in Betty’s name to the local Parkersburg Humane Society. Services will be held for Betty on August 22, 2019 at 12 pm at Kimes Funeral Home, 521-5th St. in Parkersburg with Pastor Steve DeLay officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
