Betty Jo Sellers Townsend

Betty Jo Sellers Townsend 89 left her home in Belleville WV for her eternal one on September 15, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She has been reunited with her husband Gene and sons Randy Gene, Steven Floyd; son-in-law Jerry Fleak; parents, Charles Floyd and Nellie Juanita Sellers; siblings, Jean McIntyre, John “Bill” Sellers, Ruth Sellers, Robert “Bob” Sellers, Larry “Dale” Sellers and Theresa Sellers.

Betty Jo was born April 30, 1934. She graduated from Parkersburg High School. She was a homemaker and had worked as a substitute Postmaster at the Belleville post office. She attended Belleville Baptist Church. She also had been a member of the Helping Hands Quilt Guild Wood Co., Farm Bureau, Homemakers Club and had worked as a leader in 4-H.

Together she and Gene raised six children, Randy (Babbie) Townsend, Sandra (Randy) Brown, Candice Fleak (Darrin Harris), Daniel Townsend (Penny Smith), Pamela (Harry) VanMatre and Steven Floyd Townsend.

Her grandchildren gave her so much joy and she loved them dearly. Steven (Kristie) Townsend, Krista Bell (Scott Martin), Cassie Brown (Doug Dent), Jill Fleak (Tim McKaughan), Lakita Fleak (Bill Brisker), Kendra (Darrin) Smith, Kaitlyn (Tanner) South, Andrew (Abby) Townsend, Alex Townsend, Allie Townsend, Carrie (Jonathan) Latimer, Joshua (Brandi) VanMatre and Nicole VanMatre (Ricky Vaughn). She was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister, Irene Guinn of Stockport OH and sister-in-law, Anna Lou Buck of Belleville and many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved as well.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at the Vaughan Kimes Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Dale officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Her family will receive friends from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home.
