Anthony "Tony" E. Collins

Anthony E. “Tony” Collins, 83, of Washington, WV, passed away at J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital on 3/29/25. He was born in Winston-Salem, NC on June 2, 1941, to the late Walter A. Collins Jr., and Lois Zimmerman Collins. In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his favorite father-in-law Jim Boso in 2015, and his faithful dog Calvin in 2022.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nicolynn “Nicky” Boso Collins; sons, Anthony E. Collins Jr. (Dina) of East Bend, NC, Dr. Jon L. Collins (Kim) of Durham, NC, and Dr. James C. Collins (Stacie) of Stoughton, WI; brother, Walter A. Collins III (Jeanne) of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren Meghan C. Shelton (Preston) of Mocksville, NC, Victoria W. Privette (Zachary) of Statesville, NC, Caroline C. Clark (Zack) of Wilmington, NC, Faith C. Lambert (Adam) of Winston-Salem, NC, Elyssa Collins of Raleigh, NC, and Joshua Collins (Brianna) of Mocksville, NC; great-grandchildren, Adilana Lambert, Oren Shelton, Zane Privette, Rhynnly Lambert, Stetson Lambert, and Noah Wilder Collins.

Tony was raised in New Eden Moravian Church, earned his Eagle badge in Troop 16, and graduated from James A. Gray High School in 1959. He graduated from NC State University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with honors in 1963, and worked for DuPont for 38 years at Kinston, NC, Florence, SC, Parkersburg, WV, Wilmington, DE, Memphis, TN, and Fayetteville, NC in process and project engineering positions. He was a private pilot with commercial, instrument, multi-engine, and ground school instructor ratings. Tony enjoyed dog walks, biking, woodwork, and tracing our family history, especially genetic genealogy.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, a Life member of the NRA, and a former member of Washington Lions Club. Per his request, his body was cremated and ashes to be buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Parkersburg.
